It has been a dream of mine for some time to write a devotion book to gift to my friends and family. God placed it on my heart and I wanted to honor that request. However, I was torn between this blog and the actual book. I started to think I could do both, then moved to just the book, and now I’m back here. I thought about where people are in their lives and what makes the most sense for them. Online seemed like my best option. So this blog is changing a bit (at least for now) and will become a place for you to come a few times a week and fill your heart with a devotion and study.
When I started thinking about what this would look like, I knew it wasn’t going to be the typical 365 day option. That has never worked for me and I didn’t want anyone to feel pressure to complete it each day. I wanted it to be a place for a person to go where they could start (or continue) applying scripture to their daily life. I wanted the content to be personal – not filled with random people that feels impersonal. Last, I wanted to write content where a reader can walk away with an action to try within their day.
Thus it was born!
In each devotion, I will give a bible verse – but I will also include the entire chapter or portion of the chapter that it comes from. In this way I hope that you can take some time to study the context around that verse. What is happening inside that story. What more can you take away from God’s word that is relevant to your life? Feel free to open your physical Bibles at home or use the NIV version I will provide.
In each blog I will write about personal stories of me, my family, my friends. Personal stories will allow you to get to know me – a real person. A person who struggles and succeeds. I know you don’t always get it right and neither do I. If we don’t talk about things we don’t know that we are actual very similar to each other. When you are vested in another person it will be easier to take time to devote to a study of God’s word.
At the end of each post I will leave you with a call to action. Something that you can do in that moment or during the course of your day or week. Something that will give you a tangible option to be active in the process of your devotion time.
I also don’t want you or I to feel rushed. Real life will set in often. I cannot guarantee that I will be here exactly three days a week, but I will do my very best to try. Life happens and that is OKAY. Come back when you can – you are ALWAYS welcome! This is your time with God – there is no right or wrong way to do this – I pray you will do what is right for you at this point in your life.
Enjoy your time with God. I am privileged that you chose my blog to follow and to allow me to be a part of your journey with God. There could be no greater gift for me than that!
Blessings and happy reading!
Now let’s get started……..
